Encaustic Workshops with Edie Morton

I really enjoy sharing my knowledge and experience of the encaustic medium. Besides demonstrating the numerous techniques, I hope to help each student accomplish their desires. Depending on the individual this involves helpful guidance, pushing past the comfort zone, or completing a finished piece. Learn more about my qualifications.

Location: My studio in the Fulton Cotton Mill - Cabbagetown - Atlanta, GA.

Workshops begin with a studio gallery tour of encaustic paintings including discussion of various techniques and treatments. We'll make clear medium while reviewing surface/substrate options as well as safety issues. We will cover the following techniques and demonstrations: mixing colors, creating smooth, layered and textured surfaces, Xerox transfers, collage, stencils, sgraffito and oil pigment sticks. Following the demonstrations, students will have plenty of open studio time to practice techniques.
